چکیده

The energetic-particle driven geodesic acoustic mode (GAM) has been identified on the basis of the spatial structures and frequency measured by heavy ion beam probe (HIBP) and Mirnov coil array. The frequency of the mode is higher than the GAM frequency estimated using parameters of bulk plasmas, and the high frequency GAM can be derived by taking into account the energy distribution function of the energetic particles. The temporal behaviors of energy distribution functions of ions have been measured by neutral particle analyzer (NPA). During the burst of the GAM, the ions lose the energy in the frequency range higher than the GAM frequency, and gain the energy in the frequency range below the GAM frequency. The variation in the energy distribution function indicates the energy transfer through the resonance between the energetic particles and the GAM. The energy transfer through the GAM can become an energy channel from the energetic ions to the bulk ions.

A Study of Bit Condition for Generation Rx -Mode Waves: Interaction of Particles with Z/UH-Mode Waves

Interactions of charge particles with electromagnetic waves have important effects (linear and nonlinear) on the propagation of electromagnetic waves, and it can somewhat play a role in generation of the new mode waves. Besides, the particle energies can play an important role in causing instability in plasma. The values of parallel energy of the particles have been calculated so that they can ...

Energetic-particle-induced geodesic acoustic mode.

A new energetic particle-induced geodesic acoustic mode (EGAM) is shown to exist. The mode frequency and mode structure are determined nonperturbatively by energetic particle kinetic effects. In particular the EGAM frequency is found to be substantially lower than the standard GAM frequency. The radial mode width is determined by the energetic particle drift orbit width and can be fairly large ...

Potential Fluctuation Associated with Energetic-Particle Induced Geodesic Acoustic Mode in Reversed Magnetic Shear Plasmas on LHD

Geodesic acoustic mode(GAM) driven by energetic particles are observed in the Large Helical Device by a heavy ion beam probe. The GAM frequency shifts upward in plasmas with monotonic magnetic shear. In plasmas with reversed magnetic shear, on the other hand, the observed GAM and the energetic-particle induced mode, which is probably reversed-shear induced Alfvén Eigenmode(RSAE), appears, and t...

Fractional resonances between waves and energetic particles in tokamak plasmas.

From numerical simulation and analytical modeling it is shown that fast ions can resonate with plasma waves at fractional values of the particle drift-orbit transit frequency when the plasma wave amplitude is sufficiently large. The fractional resonances, which are caused by a nonlinear interaction between the particle orbit and the wave, give rise to an increased density of resonances in phase...

Linear Properties and Nonlinear Frequency Chirping of Energetic Particle Driven Geodesic Acoustic Mode in LHD

Linear Properties and nonlinear frequency chirping of energetic particle driven geodesic acoustic mode (EGAM) is investigated using a hybrid simulation code for energetic particles interacting with a magnetohydrodynamic fluid. It is found that the EGAM is a global mode with the spatially uniform oscillation frequency. The poloidal mode numbers of poloidal velocity fluctuation, plasma density fl...
